Fishing Report
8/24/15
As it has been all season, the fishing continues to be up and down, with some great days and some slow days. When the fleet have found the schools, the fishing has been incredible. The past 4 days were like that with most everyone getting into tuna and dorado. The Mahi Mahi landed 2 wahoo, 4 tuna and 8 dorado two days ago, so we have had really good days. That seems to last for a few days and then shuts down for a few days. A constant up and down which we have seen all season long. The marlin bite continues to be very good with striped marlin, sailfish and blue marlin still being landed on a regular basis. The bottom fishing has been good as well with pargo and cabrilla being landed the last week or so. The fishing hasn’t been as far as it was last month, which is good news for the fleet. They were making runs of close to 2 hours to get clients on the fish and now they are going out a little over an hour to get to the schools. Roosters have been around in small numbers, but we have seen some nice size ones that last few weeks.
Even though it has been and up and down season with fishing being very unpredictable, the good news is that there are a lot of different species out there right now and the fishing can turn on and off from day to day, hour to hour. This week we saw tuna, dorado, wahoo, striped marlin, sailfish, blue marlin, trigger fish, jacks, pargo, grouper, cabrilla and roosters, so there is a lot to choose from. Just be flexible from day to day and you can keep busy all day. That’s it for this week amigos! Until next time! Tight lines! Eddie Dalmau/Baja’s Vna Wormer Resorts
